Parker, George H. Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2011. Born in North Providence, he was a son of the late George and Eva (Kay) Parker. He lived most of his life in Greystone and Greenville.
George worked in the sheet metal business for many years until retiring. He was a graduate of North Providence High School. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, he went to Fenway Park as often as possible. Recently, he was very proud to receive his 50-year pin from the Masonic Lodge.
George leaves two daughters, Wendy Gill and Shelly Pickles and her husband, Richard, a sister, Alice M. Buckless and her husband Kenneth of Oakham, MA, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and extended family members. George was predeceased by his brother, John H. Parker in 2006 and his nephew, Pvt. David M. Mack in 1970.
George was a generous man, loved his family members, and enjoyed helping others. He will be greatly missed by all. The family wishes to express its thanks to the staff at the Greenville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, who provided George with kind and compassionate care over the last several years.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 10 am in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Calling hours will be held Monday 5-8 pm in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berean Baptist Church, PO Box 111, 474 Chapel St., Harrisville, RI 02830.
