Velletri, Frederick, 92, of Johnston, died March 25, 2015 at the home of his daughter, Susan. He was the husband of the late Doris R. (Collette) Velletri. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Luigi and Contalena (Dragonetti) Velletri.
Fred was a carpenter for the Division of Administration, State of Rhode Island for 22 years before retiring in 1989. He had formerly worked for Acme Forms and Atlas Forms of Cranston. A Navy veteran of WWII, Fred served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the USS North Carolina Battleship Association.
Fred is survived by six daughters, Susan Cafaro of Orlando, FL, Nancy Earle of North Scituate, Regina Cardone of Blackstone, MA, Diane DeTommaso and Debra Drennen, both of Ocoee, FL, Judy Pelletier of Coventry, a son, Vance Velletri of Lakeville, MA, a stepson, Robert Clarke, Jr. of Palm Harbor, FL, a sister, Dolores Torti of Johnston, 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchilren. He was stepfather of the late Beverly Bloomer and brother of the late Rudolph Velletri, Ida Verdecchia, Yolanda Russo, Eleanor Riccitelli, and Iris Sokol.
His funeral will be held Friday, April 10th at 9 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Rd, Johnston. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday, April 9th 4-8 pm.
