Evelina Petrella

Evelina S. Petrella, 91, formerly of Smithfield, died on April 29, 2023 at Lincolnwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Born in Pozzilli, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Felice and Maria (Pirolli) Petrella.

She was one of nine children.  She is survived by three brothers, all of Pozzilli, Italy, and their families.  She came to America in 1971 to live with her sister, the late Carolina Mariotti and her family in Smithfield.  She is also survived by her niece, Maria Mariotti, the late Carol Sherboken, and a nephew, Roy Mariotti, and many great nieces and nephews.

She worked at the former Mine Safety Appliances for many years alongside her sister.  She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and being with her family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 8:30-9:30 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Food Closet or Harmony Hospice, 50 Maude St., Providence, RI 02908.
