Eugene Gagnon

Gagnon, Eugene A., 96, formerly of Gladstone St, died February 8, 2012 in Hebert Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Rita A. (Monk) Gagnon. Born in Smithfield, he was a son of the late Alphonse and Mary (Lessard) Gagnon.

Gene was a machine operator for Thurston Mfg. for 37 years retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Michael Church. He also played amateur baseball.

A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he leaves two children, Mary Verduchi and her husband Cal of Uxbridge, and Robert Gagnon and his partner David Houle of Coventry, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Theresa Shea of Smithfield, the late Gerard Gagnon and Lillian Roy, and father of the late Rita J. Lynch.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, followed by a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Calling hours Friday 4-7 PM.
