Ernest Cookson

Cookson, Ernest E., 88, passed away on January 6, 2014 in North Port, FL. He was the husband of Wanda (Slicer) Cookson and formerly of the late Beatrice (Newman) Cookson Vallee. He leaves behind six children, Deborah Cookson, Donna Cookson, June Van Der Meere and husband Frank, David Cookson, Stephen Cookson and wife Toni, and Glenn Cookson. He also leaves behind two sisters, Bernice Hyman and Joyce Whitehead, and two brothers, Royce and Gleason Cookson, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was born April 10, 1925 to Earl Garfield and Bertha Christina (Kirk) Cookson. He grew up in North Scituate, one of twelve children. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert, Earl, Russell, and Quentin and sisters Jean, Ethel, and Bertha. He worked at Agway Egg Marketing for many years, retiring as assistant manager.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 10-11 am in the funeral home with a service to follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.
