Elvera Scorpio

Scorpio, Elvera M., 97, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Cherry Hill Manor. Miss Scorpio was born in Providence on September 17, 1911, the daughter of the late Raffaele and Maria (Piscione) Scorpio.

Following graduation from high school she worked at Woolworth's in Providence for many years. She was recruited in 1942 to work at Quonset Point for the Department of the Navy. She worked for the Navy for three decades reaching the level of Supervisory Clerk, retiring in 1972. She was a long time active member of the Third Order of St. Dominic at Providence College.

Miss Scorpio is survived by many nephews and nieces.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, February 14th at 9 AM from the ROBBINS FUNERAL HOME, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, with a mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Lawrence Church, 624 Woonasquatucket Ave, North Providence. Visitation will be Saturday from 8:45 to 9:30 AM. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
