Comella, Eleanor G. (Palumbo), 95, of Johnston RI, passed on Sunday February 28th at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, from COVID-related pneumonia. She was the wife the late Santo (Sandy) Comella for 53 years before his passing. They enjoyed so many fun-filled family activities and cooking together. She was born in Providence to the late Luigi and Angelina (Balia) Palumbo.
Her greatest joy was cooking and waiting on everyone. She was kindhearted, generous and loving. She had a heart of gold and truly enjoyed her family and friends and all family events. She was recently staying with her daughter, and loved being there with her granddaughter and grandson. She said, "it was like being on vacation."
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Comella) Gabaree (late husband Richard), sons, Joseph Comella (wife Diane), Michael Comella (wife Paula), Steven Comella (wife Michele), 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 8:15-9:15 AM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Rd., Johnston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Social distancing guidelines and capacity limits will be observed. Please omit flowers. Donations in her memory may be made to the Rhode Island Food Bank.
