Edward Matarese

Matarese, Edward L., 89, of Esther Dr., died January 9, 2013 at the Cherry Hill Manor. He was the husband of the late Edith L. (DeFrancisco) Matarese. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Elmelinda (Raimondi) Matarese.

Edward was a sheriff for the Superior Court of the State of Rhode Island for many years before retiring. He was a US Army Air Force veteran of WWII, a member of the Lymansville Post VFW, a fourth degree Knight of Columbus and a former Grand Knight, and a member of the Mt.Pleasant Lions Club and the Sons of Italy.

He leaves a son, Edward L. Matarese, Jr. of North Providence, a daughter, Judy Babikian of Cranston, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a sister, Sr. Evelyn Matarese, SND, of Warwick. He was a brother of the late Nicholas Matarese and Gloria Boyle.
