Edward Lariviere, Jr.

Lariviere, Edward J. Jr., 84, of Johnston, died peacefully on June 8, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris (McGinn) Lariviere. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward J. and Rosalie (Hamel) Lariviere.

Edward was a longtime member and former president of the Local 37, Ironworkers. He served honorably in the 1st Marine Division during WWII, and also served in the Korean War. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, he enjoyed watching sporting events with his family, especially the live events that featured his grandchildren. Edward will be dearly missed by his family.

He leaves four children, Edward Lariviere III and his wife Elaine, Julie Ferranti and her husband Tom, Joseph Lariviere and his wife Maria, and Jean Lonczak and her husband, Keith, six cherished grandchildren, Sheila, Samantha, Tommy, Tayla, Joseph, and Sonia, a sister, Norma Veresko, and a brother, Arthur Lariviere.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Food Closet.
