Jolin, Edith May (Angell), a lifelong North Providence resident, died April 24, 2013. She was married to the late James A. Jolin for 63 years.

Edith was a direct descendent of Thomas Angell who came to RI with Roger Williams in the ship Lion in 1631. Mrs. Jolin was the 11th generation of the Angell family in RI. She was the daughter of the late Byron and Edith (Taylor) Angell of North Providence and sister of the late Byron Alden Angell, Jr. and the late George Olney Angell.

She is survived by her brother, John Taylor Angell of Mapleville, her three children, Dr. Edith M. Jolin and her husband, Dr. Richard Pieters of Duxbury, MA, Deborah Ann Roy and her husband Richard of Nashua, NH, James A. Jolin, Jr. and his wife Tamara of North Providence, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jolin was employed at Builders/Prov., Inc. from 1947-53 and the Office of Higher Education for the State of RI as a secretary from 1976-92. She loved gardening, growing vegetables and flowers that filled her yard. She loved her animals, her dog Bella and her two cats.

Her funeral service will be held Monday at 11:30 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park. Calling hours Sunday 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to The Humane Society of the US, 2100 L St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20037.
