Dorothea Baxter

Baxter, Dorothea E. (Malone), 95, formerly of Johnston, died September 22, 2015 at the Crestwood Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Albert Baxter, who she married in 1940. Born in Johnston, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Melissa (Cockcroft) Malone.

Dorothea was a mender at Worcester Textile from 1943 until retiring. She was a member of the Merry Makers Square Dance Club and of the former Graniteville Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Gayle M. Nunes of Warren and Betsy J. Nield of Narragansett, four grandchildren, Todd Nunes, Melissa Arnold, Amy and Jeffrey Nield, and seven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Norman S.C. Malone.

Her funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will follow in Acotes Hill Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 10-11 am.
