Giammarco, Dennis, MD, 63, of Sugar Land, Texas and formerly of North Providence, entered into rest on October 25, 2010. He was the husband of Connie Giammarco. Born in Providence he was a son of the late David Giammarco, Sr. and Esther (Beretta) Giammarco.

Raised in North Providence, Dr. Giammarco was a graduate of North Providence High School and the University of Rhode Island. After teaching high school biology for several years, he pursued his MD degree from the University of Besançon in France, graduating with honors. He was a physician and surgeon in Fort Bend County, Texas and as served as chief of staff at the Oakbend Medical Center. Dr. Giammarco also performed missionary work in Honduras and Mexico. A member of the Air Force Reserve, he was an avid pilot and was flight surgeon on an F-16. He was a member of AOPA, AMA, and TMA. He was an active outdoorsman, runner, marathoner and skier.

Beside his loving wife Connie, he leaves his children, Helena and her husband Mike, Jonathann and his wife Hammy, and Bridgette; his siblings Essie Dube, Patricia Giammarco, Esq., David Giammarco, Jr. (Capt., NPFD) and his wife Lisa, Paul Giammarco and his wife Heidi, and Gayle Giammarco.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, November 6th at 10 AM in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Ave, Providence. The family will be available in the Church from 9 AM to 9:45 AM. A reception will be held at Luigi's Restaurant in Johnston immediately following the Mass.
