Charles Sydney Pickles, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Miriam Hospital. He felt the love of his family as his health declined and throughout his life. Charlie was born on December 20, 1947, son of the late Sydney and Hazel (Clark) Pickles and raised in North Providence, R.I. He was the beloved husband of Paula (Feddersen) Pickles for 54 years.
Charlie married Paula (Feddersen) Pickles on March 30, 1968. They settled in North Providence, R.I. Charlie began his career at Circular Tool always enjoying working with his hands. After working in the tool making industry for more than twenty years, Charlie decided to change careers and become a Correctional Officer for the State of R.I. Here, he took great pride in serving the State and would often say: "You get respect by being respectful." He was respected by all.
His interests included coaching his daughters baseball teams as well as coaching and referring ice hockey for the RI Hockey Officials Association. He took great pride in mentoring his daughter to become an official and his greatest love was watching his two grandsons on the ice. In later years you could find Charlie catching a game at any of the local ice rinks.
Charlie's greatest pride was being the best Father and Papa. He instilled wonderful parenting values in his two daughters.
Besides his wife Paula, he is survived by his daughters, Laurie Janczar and her husband Ed of Pawtucket, RI, Cheri McIlroy and her husband James of Newfields, NH, and his six grandchildren, Michael, David, Rosemary, Erin, William, and Grace. Charlie was an amazing father, grandfather, and husband and will be missed by all who knew him.
There are no calling hours and the burial will be private.
