Caterina Southworth

Southworth, Caterina R. (Carbone), 91, died January 25, 2009 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late James L. Southworth, Sr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Scipione and Marianna (Carvisiglia) Carbone.

Caterina was a clerk for the former American Screw Co. and was a school crossing guard for Providence Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 1982.

She leaves two sons, James L. Southworth, Jr. of Scituate, and Mark S. Southworth of Johnston, two grandchildren, three sisters, Tina Carroll of Smithfield, Evelyn Kalas of Willowick, OH, and Hilda Denby of Cranston, and family pet, Pasha. She was sister of the late Benjamin and Samuel Carbone.

Her funeral will be held on Friday at 8:45 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-7 pm.
