Bowen Sweet

Sweet, Bowen Forrest, 94, died June 9, 2008 at his residence on Olney Avenue where he had lived since 1952. Born February 18, 1914 in Newport, he was the son of Elmer Forrest and Minnie Galway Sweet.

He was a 1938 graduate of the University of Rhode Island and worked as principal microbiologist in the Animal Disease Laboratory of the RI Department of Health for 38 years. He was married to Marguerite Burdick Sweet for seventy-one years at the time of her death in January 2006.

Besides his parents, Bowen was predeceased by his sisters Ruth Vevera, Vera Sweet, Esther Lord, and Alma Rusling.

He will be sadly missed by his son Ralph Forrest Sweet and wife Meredith Dyer Sweet; his son and caregiver Bradford Bowen Sweet and wife Lynne Rioles Sweet; grandchildren, Kimberly Sweet Frohman and her husband Mark, Sarah Sweet Hill and her husband Craig, Hilary Thompson Sweet, Jonathan Forrest Sweet and his wife Lisa Barrett, Nathan Bowen Sweet and his wife Rebecca Tomeny Sweet, Julie Sweet White and her husband Daun White, Jr.; great grandchildren Ethan Forrest Frohman, Zachery Michael Frohman, Keira Rose White, Daun Alan White, II, Maura Ann White, Benjamin Bowen Sweet, Nicholas Edward Sweet, Lauren Jane Sweet and Ella Barrett Sweet; five step grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren, and three step great- great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday June 11th from 5-7 PM, followed by a funeral service at 7 PM in the ROBBINS FUNERAL HOME, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will be private. Kindly omit flowers.
