Barbara Parenteau

Parenteau, Barbara M. (Darby), formerly of North Providence and Smithfield, passed away on May 27, 2020 at Overlook Nursing Home.  She was the wife of her late “Ever Lovin’ Husband” Raymond J. Parenteau and daughter of the late Harold and Laura (Hauser) Darby.

She is survived by her loving children, Janice Russo and her husband, Stephen, Jean Buckley, and Richard Parenteau and his wife Deirdre.  She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jason Russo, Samantha Russo, Danielle Parenteau-Castellani and Ryan Parenteau; and three great-granddaughters, Anabel Russo, Lilliana Castellani, and Ava Castellani.  She was the sister of Donald Darby and his wife Barbara and the late Florence Day and Harold Darby, Jr.

She had started her adult working life as a secretary at the defunct Semolina Macaroni Company.  In her youth, she was an avid roller skater.

Barbara was a life member of the Centredale Volunteer Fire Association, a volunteer in the activities department at Elmhurst Extended Care Facility, a member of the Johnston Senior Bowling League.  She loved her summer days spent with family and close friends in York Beach, ME, and Center Harbor, NH.
