Barbara Johnson

Johnson, Barbara (Brooks), 90, of Armington Ave., passed away at her eldest daughter's home in Williamsport, PA on February 16, 2009 with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Gustaf C. Johnson. She was born on August 18, 1918 and was a resident of Providence for over 60 years.

Mrs. Johnson had been employed as a waitress for many years at the Gansett, Tommy's, and John's Restaurants in downtown Providence. She was affectionately called "Red" by many of her favorite customers. Barbara was a devoted sports fan, never missing a RI Reds hockey game. She was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan and loved to read.

She is survived by her three beloved children, Gail Kline and her husband Charles of Williamsport, PA, Neil Johnson and his wife Judy of Providence, and Karen Johnson of Providence. Barbara loved being with her six grandchildren, Jennifer, Stacy, Jamie, Andre, Alexis, and Curtis, her thirteen great-grandchildren, and her newborn great-great grandson.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 AM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence. Calling Hours Friday 5-8 PM. Burial in the RI Veterans Cemetery will be private.
