Barbara Hiatt

HIATT, BARBARA L. (HANSEN), 82, passed away on August 2, 2010 at Golden Crest Nursing Centre. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert G. Hiatt. Barbara was born in Esmond, R.I. to Nils A. Hansen and Elizabeth (Longfellow) Hansen.
She leaves three children, Gordon D. Hiatt, Linda L. Viveiros, and Paul D. Hiatt, four grandchildren, Meredith L. Platt, Nicholas A. Viveiros, Jessica R. Hiatt, and Kyle G. Hiatt, and a great grandson, Jackson Herbert Platt. She is survived by brother N. August Hansen, and sister Elizabeth A. Burhoe. She was predeceased by siblings, Bert Hansen, Norman Hansen, Alfred Hansen, Clara Henlin, and Dorothy Bardsley.

Barbara was the retired co-owner of the former Wise Way Printing. Previously, she worked for many years at the Greater Providence YMCA as an executive secretary and later as Youth Director. She was a lifelong member of Allendale Baptist Church and an active member of its Tawanka Circle women's group.

Calling hours will be Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Visiting Nurses Association of Rhode Island, 475 Kilvert Street, Warwick 02886.
