Barbara Frances Geary (Forrest), age 90, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on August 22, 2022. She was the wife of the late Everett Robert Geary. Born in Portland, Maine, she was a beloved daughter of the late Henry E. and Frances M. (Percival) Forrest.
Mrs. Geary was an active member and leader of Mathewson Street United Methodist Church where she welcomed everyone into the body of Christ with open arms. Strangers became friends with Barbara, and friends became family.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, hope, strength, and inspiration. She had a strong passion for life as well as for her faith in her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Whether it be working at The Cockroft Company, serving at soup kitchens, spending Sunday afternoons with family, or taking day-trips, Barbara did everything with a contagious smile. She had a light within her that could not be dimmed, even as she took her last breath.
Barbara loved fun and adventure. Some of her favorite activities included going to the beach, bowling, horseshoes, reading, playing cards, mastering puzzles, watching football, enjoying Tootsie-Pops, and indulging in ice cream, but only on Sundays.
Left to honor Barbara and remember her love are her five cherished daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and James Davis, Kathleen and Ron Dickinson, Barbara and Frank D’Alessio, Patricia and Richard Giuntoli, and Phyllis and Charles Bolstridge; as well as her 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Phyllis St. Amand, and her brothers, Raymond, John, and Henry Forrest.
There are some who bring a light so bright to the world that after they are gone, the light remains. Barbara shared her light with everyone she met and it remains in each of us. May we honor her by continuing to share that light with others.
