Anna Mary Cadieux (nee Jutras) of Centredale passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27th at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. Born on June 23, 1919 in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Valarie (nee Frappier) Jutras, and the widow of Emile J. Cadieux, Sr. Having survived and thrived to the venerable age of 105, it can be said that she truly lived a remarkable life. Anna was sustained for over a century by a steadfast devotion to her Catholic faith, and the caliber of humility and reliable but understated strength of character that has come to define her vanishing generation.
Anna was blessed to have lived nearly the entirety of her long life in the very same house purchased by her parents over a century ago. It is an astounding fact that she and Emile raised their own family of six children in that same home, on the same street, in the same neighborhood in which she and her siblings were once raised. The last survivor among her siblings, she had been the devoted sister of the late Henry Jutras (Lillian), Miss Mary Jane Jutras, Mrs. Alma Lacharite (“Joe”), Mrs. Alice LaBonte (Roger), Mrs. Mary Rose Audet (“Pete”), Mrs. Yvette Gauvin (Ray), and Mrs. Cecile Blaise (Ray).
She is survived by three sons; Joseph Cadieux (Susan) of San Marcos, CA, Michael Cadieux (Maria) of Anderson, AL, Robert Cadieux (Diane) of Sarasota, FL, and a daughter, Maryann DiDonato (Richard) of North Providence, RI. Also surviving her are seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two cherished sons, Raymond Cadieux and Emile Cadieux, Jr., and his wife Nark (nee Wongchai), as well as a beloved grandson, Nicholas Cadieux.
Anna remained ever cheerful, bright, fully engaged and engaging to the very end. Her legacy of simplicity, humility, positivity, unassuming self-reliance and quiet strength will never be forgotten. Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 3rd at 8:30 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at Mary Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth Street, North Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, February 2nd, from 4 – 7 PM. Because Anna loved children, gifts in her memory to St. Jude’s, the Shriners or any charity that serves to benefit the little ones would be lovely.
