On Friday, January 31, Andrew George Tsukatos passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Andrew was born in a mountain village called Pramatefi, known for its magnificent views of the Myrtoan Sea, part of the Mediterranean Sea off of the eastern coast of Greece. After immigrating to the United States in 1949, he spent most of his adult years as a resident of North Providence, R.I, where he owned and operated Andrew’s Restaurant for almost 30 years. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 - 1958.
Andrew was known among his friends, loved ones and many loyal customers for his warm kindness and humorous personality. Whether as a parent, friend or business owner, he worked tirelessly in service of others. When he wasn’t working, he could be found at sea fishing or in his yard tending to his garden. He always shared what he caught or grew with his neighbors in the surrounding community. One of his most special qualities was his glowing smile, which will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Andrew is survived by wife Demetra Tsukatos, daughters Anastasia Tsukatos and Helen Nunez, son George Tsukatos, stepdaughter Lucia Keenen, grandchildren Sophia Nunez and Joseph Dorego.
He was the son of the late George and Anastasia (Bournakis) Tsoukatos, husband of the late Xania Tsukatos, brother to Theodore Soukatos, brother of the late James Sukatos, Thomas Soukas, Helen Zarakostas, Angela Zarakostas, Maria Lyssikatos and Tina Georgitsis.
