D'Angelo, Alfred J., 87, died May 8, 2012 at North Bay Manor. He was the husband of the late Laura Eloise (Phifer) D'Angelo for 63 years. Born in and a lifetime resident of Smithfield, he was a son of the late Carmelo and Marianna (Campagna) D'Angelo.

Alfred was the owner of D'Angelo Brothers Excavating, Ladco Realty, and D'Angelo Farm Equipment before retiring. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, a member of Balfour Cole Post #64, American Legion for over 66 years, a lifetime member of the Smithfield Lions Club, a third degree Knight with the St. Lawrence Council Knights of Columbus, a member of the Smithfield Elks, the Smithfield Conservation Commission, and a communicant of St. Michael Church.

He leaves his children, David M. D'Angelo and his wife Jan (Departhy) of Smithfield, Joseph A. D'Angelo and his wife Debra (Winsor) of Smithfield, Dianne M. Bobb and her husband James of Chandler, AZ, Alfred B. D'Angelo of Palm Bay, FL, and John R. D'Angelo and his wife Catherine (Siekeira) of Smithfield, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Frances D'Angelo of Smithfield, Albert D'Angelo of Melbourne, FL, Edward D'Angelo of Smithfield, and the late Frank, James, and Antonio D'Angelo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Al's funeral will be held Monday at 9 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Michael Church, Georgiaville. Burial with military honors will follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours will be Sunday 4-8 PM.
