Agnes Gates

Gates, Agnes Stevenson, 89, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 03, 2013 at The Village at Waterman Lake. She was the loving wife of the late Hollis J. Gates for 51 years. Born in North Providence, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Allan Stevenson.

She is survived by her loving children, Cheryl Jackson of Johnston, Allan Gates and his wife Gale of Attleboro, Robert Gates of Oklahoma, and daughter-in-law Brenda Gates of Warwick. She was the mother of the late Lois M. Dolan and the late Hollis J. Gates and sister of the late Mary S. Wall. She is survived by 12 grandchildren: Lynn Corwin, Jenna Briggs, Jason and Seth Gates, Michael and Hollis Gates, David and Hollis Dolan, Hollis, Scott, Bobbi Jo and the late Jeffrey Gates; 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a life-long Red Sox fan and loved spending time with her family.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6th at 10 am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 251 Danielson Pike, North Scituate, RI 02857. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park (aka "Up the Hill") following the church service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to either Trinity Episcopal Church or United Way of Rhode Island.
